Swift campaign brings Tet homes to storm-hit residents in Hue

Quang Trung Campaign is not merely a task, but a political responsibility and a heartfelt commitment to the people. The guiding principle is to act as swiftly and decisively as possible, ensuring no family is left without shelter, especially in the days leading up to Tet, said Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Director of the Hue Department of Public Security.

Hue (VNA) – Despite cold weather and persistent rain, officers, soldiers and local residents in the central city of Hue are working at full speed to complete solid new homes, enabling disadvantaged families to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) in safety and warmth, as part of efforts to respond to Quang Trung Campaign launched by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Lighting hope, restoring confidence

In late 2025, storms and floods caused severe damage in Hue, destroying five houses and damaging nine others. In Khe Tre commune alone, three homes collapsed and seven required urgent repairs. In addition, 91 households affected by landslides or at high risk of landslides had to be relocated immediately.

To address the aftermath of natural disasters, the Prime Minister launched Quang Trung Campaign, aiming to race against time to provide safe housing during the rainy season and ensure families could reunite in new homes for Tet. According to Hoang Hai Minh, Vice Chairman of the Hue People’s Committee, implementing the campaign has been identified as an urgent and central political task. Beyond rebuilding houses with brick and cement, the city seeks to rekindle hope and trust, guided by the principle of leaving no one behind.

Tran Van Quang, Vice Chairman of the Khe Tre communal People’s Committee, said the entire political system at the grassroots level had been mobilised to support house repairs and construction under the campaign. On January 10, the houses are expected to be handed over, helping residents stabilise their lives. In parallel, affected families have received support in seedlings and livestock to resume production and secure livelihoods.

A mission from the heart

To ensure the swift completion of three houses in Khe Tre, soldiers, policemen, mass organisations and local residents have demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility. Driven by what they described as a “mission from the heart”, the forces overcame harsh weather conditions to complete the works ahead of Tet 2026.

Lieutenant Dang Nhat Minh, Political Commissar of Company 1, Regiment 6 under the Hue Military Command, recalled that despite heavy rains and construction delays, solidarity and determination prevailed. After just 25 days, the three houses were largely completed, standing firm, clean and well-built.

Huynh Ngoc Anh, a soldier of the same unit shared his pride in contributing to such meaningful work, expressing hope that residents would enjoy a warm and joyful Tet in their new homes.

Alongside military support, police forces were reinforced to assist construction and ensure local stability. The Hue city police also contributed 300 million VND to build two houses for particularly disadvantaged households.

Lam Dong police complete Quang Trung Campaign six days ahead of schedule
