Foreign direct investment in Thailand continues to increase

Mar. 21 (VNA/NNT) - The Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) has revealed that
foreign direct investment (FDI) in Thailand has been increasing
continuously.
BOI Secretary-General Atchaka Sibunruang reported a 30 percent increase
in investment applications during January and February in 2012 compared to last
year’s figure. The accumulated investment value of the projects stood at 82
billion THB.
According to Atchaka, operators from the electronics, electrical
appliance, chemical, paper and plastic industries made up the majority of applicants
for the incentives.
The Secretary-General added for the first two months of the year, most foreign investments were intended to expand projects already present in Thailand, accounting for 114 projects with a combined value of 55 billion THB. She said there were only 74 new projects worth 27 billion THB in January and February. (VNA)
