Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) and the city’s Vietnam – Republic of Korea (RoK) Friendship Association on October 10 mounted a get-together to celebrate the 4,351st anniversary of the East Asian country’s National Foundation Day.
Speaking at the event, Nguyen Van Manh, Vice President of the HUFO, said that the two countries’ relations are developing across the fields, from politics, economy, people-to-people exchange, to culture, sport, and tourism.
He added the sides have frequently exchanged high-ranking delegations, set up cooperation programmes, and supported each other at multilateral and international forums.
Manh highlighted the fact that Vietnam and the RoK are big trade partner of each other, with the number of Vietnamese living in the RoK almost equaling that of Koreans in Vietnam.
Lim Jae-hoon, RoK Consul General to HCM City, said amid such robust ties, the city has developed an effective cooperation with Busan and several other localities in the RoK
The city is also a venue for many joint projects and cultural activities between the two countries as well as for the reception of RoK high-raking delegations and leaders, the diplomat noted.
Currently, 3,000 RoK firms are investing in the city and about 100,000 Koreans are living here and in neighbouring provinces./.
