HCM City (VNA) – The Republic of Korea (RoK) Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony on October 3 to celebrate the 4,351st anniversary of the East Asian country’s National Foundation Day.
Speaking at the event, RoK Consul General Lim Jae-hoon said despite the geographical distance, relations between Vietnam and the RoK have been progressing across politics, economy, people-to-people exchanges, and culture-sport-tourism cooperation. The two nations regularly exchange high-level delegations, establish collaboration programmes, and support each other at multilateral and international forums for mutual peace and prosperity. They have also become important partners in economic development.
The diplomat stressed HCM City, as Vietnam’s southern socio-economic and cultural hub, has maintained effective cooperation with RoK localities.
By hosting cultural exchanges, implementing joint projects, and welcoming high-ranking leaders and high-level delegations from the RoK, the city has contributed significantly to the two nations’ strategic cooperative partnership, he added.
Congratulating the RoK on its National Foundation Day, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem said their bilateral diplomatic relations, set up in 1992 and elevated to a strategic cooperative partnership in 2019, have so far reaped positive outcomes across various fields.
He noted that his city has established friendship and cooperation with seven Korean localities, with joint projects conducted regularly in the fields of health, cultural exchange and education-training, among others.
The official pledged to create the best conditions possible for Korean firms and citizens to work and live in the city.
Currently, HCM City and neighbouring areas are home to 3,000 businesses and 100,000 people from the RoK./.
