(Photo: VNA) The event in Vientiane adopted the revised statutes of thegeneral association, reviewed performance during 2015 - 2022, and defined orientations for the new tenure, including aligning the association’sactivities with the new context, including the socio-economic situation inLaos, the development of the two countries’ relations, and the role and statureof the Vietnamese community in Laos.
A 23-member executive committee was elected for the third tenure,with Pham Van Hung serving as new chairman of the general association.
Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen BaHung spoke highly of contributions by the second-tenure executive committee aswell as achievements by the Vietnamese community in Laos.
The ambassador asked the new executive committee to further reform theiractivities, strongly boost the general association’s coordination with itschapters, and stay united to help with the development of Laos and thehomeland.
He also took this occasion to thank the Lao Ministry of HomeAffairs, the Lao Front for National Construction, and relevant agencies of thehost country for supporting the general association.
The diplomat expressed his hope that authorities of Laos willcontinue creating conditions for the association to build a united Vietnamesecommunity to contribute to Laos's development, the two countries’ specialrelations, and the homeland.
Founded on August 19, 2009, the General Association ofVietnamese People in Laos now has 14 chapters in provinces and cities acrossthe host country./.
