The elections of deputies to the 13th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term had finished in all cities and provinces nationwide by the midnight of May 22.
Preliminary statistics showed that the northern mountainous provinces of Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Hoa Binh and Lang Son have led the country in terms of the rates of voters going to the polls, with 99.99 percent, said the Election Council.
They are followed by the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, with 99.98 percent; the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang, 99.94 percent; and the central province of Phu Yen, 99.92 percent.
Many among the 58 cities and provinces that have counted the numbers of voters balloting on the day have also seen the rates exceed 99 percent.
According to the council, social security and order were maintained in all localities during the voting day.
The elections were the largest-ever so far with more than 62 million voters casting their ballots to elect 500 NA deputies and 301,954 People’s Council members at all levels at 90, 438 polling stations./.
