The Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association (VGFA) and the Vietnam National Academy of Music held a get-together in Hanoi on Oct. 7 to mark German Unity Day (Oct. 3) and the 35th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations (Sept. 23).
VGFA President Hoang Van Huay emphasised the significance of the annual get-together between VGFA members and representatives of the German Embassy, organisations and friends on the occasion of German Unity Day.
In particular, the two governments have decided to organise Vietnam Year in Germany and Germany Year in Vietnam in 2010 when the two countries celebrate the 35 th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, with various activities to promote bilateral information and cultural exchanges and to introduce each country’s socio-politics, cultural and economic achievements, he said.
Huay and German Ambassador to Vietnam Rolf Schulze reviewed 35 years of bilateral friendship and cooperation and said they were happy at increasing mutual trust and understanding through maintaining high-ranking delegations and delegations of the two countries’ ministries, agencies and people organisations.
The German diplomat said he hoped the establishment of the Vietnam-Germany university in Vietnam and the presence of around 3,500 Vietnamese students studying in Germany would help boost the relationship between the countries./.
