Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary ofthe Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a grand welcomeceremony for General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) andPresident of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith in Hanoi on December 19.

The three-day visit is from December 19 made atthe invitation of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President TranDai Quang with a view to promoting the traditional friendship, specialsolidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

This is the second official friendly visit ofthe Lao leader during his tenure (2016-2021). 

The visit is also expected to strengthensolidarity and political trust between the two Parties and countries. This isalso a chance for Vietnam to affirm support to Laos during its cause ofnational defence and development.

The Vietnam-Laos relationship has been growingin all fields.

Bilateral political relations have been promoted,with high-level meetings regularly organised and collaboration mechanismsconstantly strengthened.

Both sides have worked together closely inpopularising the Vietnam-Laos ties and holding celebrations of the 55thanniversary of their diplomatic relations and 40 years of the Treaty ofFriendship and Cooperation.

Defence-security and external relationpartnership has been fruitful. Vietnam and Laos have coordinated to build ashared border of stability and sustainable development. They have completed ajoint project to upgrade and build more border markers, with 1,002 markersupgraded and built.
  
The two countries’ governments have alsofinalised legal procedures for a protocol on land border.

Two-way trade reached 720.4 million USD this year toOctober, up 8.7 percent over the same period last year, with Vietnam’s exportshitting 426.2 million USD, a year on year rise of 12.4 percent.

Affirming that Vietnam always values its traditional friendship with countries in the Balkan region, with Croatia regarded as one of its priority partners, Giang spoke highly of bilateral collaboration achievements in politics-diplomacy, economy, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Doan Anh awarded first-class Labour Order

On behalf of Party and State leaders, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented the noble reward to Anh, describing him as a well-trained official who has matured through practical experience and held many important leadership positions within the Party, State, military and local administrations.

Vietnam, Croatia seek stronger law enforcement cooperation

In recent years, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MoPS) and Croatian partners have carried out various practical cooperation activities, including the signing of a cooperation agreement on fire prevention, firefighting, search and rescue as well as coordination in verifying criminal information at the request of the Croatian INTERPOL Office.

Indian Defence Minister pays official visit to Vietnam

Following the ceremony, the two sides held talks during which the Vietnamese minister emphasised the significance of the visit as the two countries celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and recently upgraded ties to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership under the spirit of “Shared Vision, Strategic Convergence and Substantive Cooperation,” during the state visit to India by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam from May 5-8.
