The non-profit organisation Habitat for Humanity International will introduce its programme to build houses for the poor in Vietnam this month.

According to an announcement by the Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga at the ministry’s regular press briefing in Hanoi on Nov. 5, a ceremony to launch the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project 2009 will be held at Ke Sat town, Binh Giang district, in the northern province of Hai Duong on Nov. 14.

Under the programme which will run through Nov. 21, 32 houses will be built in Dong Xa village, Hai Duong province.

The spokesperson added that Vietnam was among five countries in the Mekong rive basin to benefit from Habitat’s project.

Former US President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to attend the programme on Nov. 18./.
