Hai Phong int’l container terminal receives 1 millionth TEU

The Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Terminal (TC-HICT) in the northern city of Hai Phong welcomed its 1 millionth TEU this year on November 10, from the container ship YM Truth of the Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation.

Hai Phong (VNA) - The Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Terminal (TC-HICT) in the northern city of Hai Phong welcomed its 1 millionth TEU this year on November 10, from the container ship YM Truth of the Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation.

This is the second consecutive year TC-HICT has received more than 1 million TEUs.

Speaking at the event, Lieutenant Colonel Doan Hai Tuan, Chairman of TC-HICT's Board of Members, affirmed that it is not only an impressive event for TC-HICT but also affirms the development and attraction of goods import and export of deep-water seaports in Hai Phong city.

This event is a memorable milestone for TC-HICT, affirming the reputation and brand of one of the leading deep-water ports in Vietnam.

This is also an event that helps assure foreign investors who set up factories in Hai Phong and northern provinces as it will reduce logistics costs.

From these ports, goods can be transported directly to the US and Europe without having to transship at foreign ports.

Currently, TC-HICT is the first and only deep-water port in northern Vietnam and is among the top seaports in the world that can receive large ships. TC-HICT's cargo handling capacity reaches 100 containers per hour./.
