A two-day seminar on international migration was held in Hanoi to discuss international migration and database management for policy makers.
A two-day seminar on international migration was held in Hanoi to discuss international migration and database management for policy makers.

This was part of the project to compile documents and a database on the migration of Vietnamese citizens to foreign countries.

The event, co-organised by the International Organisation for Migration and the Consular Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focused on the relationship between migration and development, particularly in Vietnam and Asia .

It also talked about the impacts of migration on development, especially on overseas remittance and knowledge transfer and challenges in income and migration database management for policy making.

Addressing the event, delegates emphasised the importance of migration to development and discussed the relationship between migration issues and policy making to achieve sustainable development goals.

The seminar, wrapped up on June 2, was also a good chance for Vietnam and foreign policy makers and experts to share experience in compiling migration databases, as well as the use of the database in sustainable management of migration for development./.
