Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - A competition has been launched to seek creative design ideas for planning a multi-functional cultural park on the Hong (Red) River.
The competition was jointly organised by Hanoi’s four districts of Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Tay Ho and Long Bien in collaboration with the Architectural Magazine.
With an area of about 328 hectares in the middle of the Red River and about 63.2 hectares of beach along the banks, the areas are located in the four districts of Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Tay Ho and Long Bien.
Implementing the direction of the city’s Party Committee and People's Committee, the competition aims to seek innovative design ideas for turning areas into a worthy cultural park.
The competition also serves as a basis for establishing goals for the city’s project "Development of the mid-river and riverside areas into a multifunctional cultural landscape park".
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan highlighted the importance of the "Development of the mid-river and riverside areas into a multifunctional cultural landscape park" project in creating architectural space, including creative cultural spaces and socio-economic development of Hanoi capital.
"We hope that, through the competition, experts will promote the creativity, unique and feasible ideas to exploiting the capital's special spaces sustainably and creatively, contributing to improving people's quality of life, creating green and ecological spaces," said Tuan.
Chairman of the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee Pham Tuan Long said that the competition was an opportunity for all parties to research and propose solutions to effectively exploit the space along the Red River, aiming to create a green corridor along the Red River, transforming the area into a green, clean, beautiful and attractive living environment for community tourism development.
The submitted entries should effectively exploit the land fund, the local advantages, and the potential natural beauty of the Red River, and leverage the unique characteristics of each district. Through this, they should contribute to promoting creative design activities in the community, aiming to create green, safe, convenient spaces and to provide motivation for the development of the cultural industry.
Proposals should include comprehensive architectural landscape planning for a unified park with a complete concept and content that is innovative yet practical and feasible, serving as the basis for detailed planning and investment projects in the subsequent phases.
The competition is opened for organisations and individuals with the legal capacity according to the regulations of Vietnamese law, possessing the capacity to operate in the field of architectural design as stipulated by Vietnamese law.
Participants must register their attendance online and submit projects in digital files as instructed at the address: cuocthi.tckt.vn/song-hong.
The total prize value is up to 1 billion VND, with the first prize winner receiving 500 million VND, the second prize is 300 million VND and the third prize is 200 million VND.
The awards ceremony is expected to take place in October 2024./.
