Hanoi to restore lake inside Temple of Literature

The management board of the Temple of Literature in Hanoi has announced plans to restore the cultural values of a lake known as Literature Lake within the historic site.

The management board will kick off a project to restore the Phuong Dinh building and Kim Chau Islet.

The Literature Lake is an important part of the Temple of Literature, covering a total area of 12,000 square metres, including the water surface area, surrounding gardens, and Kim Chau Islet.

Due to the ravages of time, the space has been damaged and encroached upon, making preservation work particularly difficult.

There is a lot of work to be done, such as expanding the paths by the lake and beautifying the nearby landscapes. This site has been neglected for some time and been seriously affected by environmental pollution and illegal encroachment and construction.

Preserving and promoting the value of Literature Lake will contribute greatly to the protection of the Temple of Literature as a whole.

Experts also said that to make it an appropriate space for cultural and artistic activities and to promote the value of the site, there should be more work carried out to ensure the restoration and preservation of its historical and cultural values./.
