Hanoi to turn 78 sites into underground public parking lots

The capital city of Hanoi plans to establish underground public car parks at 78 sites across four central districts, as confirmed by the municipal People's Committee.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The capital city of Hanoi plans to establish undergroundpublic car parks at 78 sites across four central districts, as confirmed by themunicipal People's Committee.

These car parks will be constructed beneath public spaces such asparks, squares, and gardens. Spanning a total of 104 hectares, each car parkwill consist of three to four storeys.

The city’s authorities will also repurpose existing car parks inhistoric inner-city areas to create underground and multi-storey parking zones.

Based on Hanoi's recently approved underground space plan, thecity's subterranean area will encompass 756 square metres across 20 districts,with a maximum depth of 30 metres. The underground network will comprisetransportation, technical infrastructure, electrical systems, and public spacessuch as commercial and service centres, supermarkets, entertainment venues, andcar parks./.
