The meeting, from July 24-26, is the second of its kind. It bringstogether French media representatives from more than seven countriesaround Asia and Eastern Europe, including Cambodia, Thailand andRomania.
Participants will discuss currentchallenges facing publications in countries where French is not anofficial language and promote new developments in French languagejournalism.
The event is a joint effort between theAsia-Pacific Office of the International French Organisation (IFO), theVietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Le Courrier du Vietnam newspaper.
Speaking at a press conference on July 24, VNA Deputy General DirectorNgo Ha Thai said the meeting was a good chance for newspaper leaders todiscuss and exchange knowledge in French language journalism among theFrench language newspaper community.
The meetingwill also invite participants to assess the IFO's current strategy tosupport French language newspapers in non-native countries.
The event is an important contribution to building a more multicultural and multilingual community, he said.
The first meeting was held in Bucharest, Rumania in December 2011.-VNA
