At the reception, NA Chairman Hung said he is pleased with fine developments in the strategic cooperation partnership between Vietnam and Russia , bringing benefits to both sides.

He expressed his wish that the Russian Parliament will continue to boost cooperation with its Vietnamese counterpart in exchanging lawmaking experience and making practical contributions to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.

He said he believes that this visit will help bring the relationship between the two countries’ legislative bodies to a new height.

For his part, Melnikov Ivan Ivanovich spoke highly of the positive developments of the bilateral cooperation in various fields, including politics, culture and socio-economics.

The cooperation between the two parliaments is developing strongly in line with the two countries’ cooperation agreement, he said.

Earlier on the same day, the Duma Vice Chairman held talks with a Vietnamese NA delegation led by Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu.

The two sides agreed that over past years, the friendship and cooperation between the Vietnamese NA and the Duma have developed positively, not only on the highest level and through the framework of multilateral forums, but also between committees and friendship groups of the two countries’ parliaments.

The exchange of visits between the Vietnamese NA and the Russian State Duma have made great and active contributions to strengthening the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.

On the basis of cooperative agreements signed between the Vietnamese NA and the Duma and the Federation Council of Russia, Vice Chairman Luu expressed his wish that in the future, the two legislative bodies will deepen bilateral ties and support each other at multilateral forums.

The two parliaments should continue close coordination and support for the two Governments in building legal foundations for bilateral cooperation, helping further consolidate and strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and parliaments, he said.

Luu said he hopes that the Duma will strengthen cooperation, support and experience sharing with Vietnam , especially in lawmaking work.

The Duma Vice Chairman said that Russia always wishes to continue developing cooperation and friendship, as well as strengthen exchanges between the two parliaments.

The two sides should pay attention to strengthening the relations between their young generations and boosting cooperation in such areas as culture, education, science and technology and nuclear power, he added./.
