HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City has provided more than 164 billion VND (around 6.22 million USD) in cash and over 7 billion VND worth of goods to assist northern and central localities hit by recent natural disasters.
Speaking at a donation reception ceremony on November 12, Phan Hong An, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that from early August to November 11, the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Relief Mobilisation Board had received 15,196 donations, amounting to nearly 232 billion VND in total.
The city has transferred all donated goods and cash to affected provinces to help safeguard public health, provide medical and disease prevention support, stabilise livelihoods, and restore production.
Additionally, the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Relief Mobilisation Board have also disbursed 430 million VND to help the city’s residents cope with the impacts of storms, whirlwinds, floods, and tidal surges.
On November 12 alone, the city secured more than 4 billion VND in new pledges of cash and goods from 17 organisations, agencies, and enterprises to further support disaster recovery efforts./.
