HCM City get-together celebrates Russia Day

HCM City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations held a gathering on June 10 to mark the 35th anniversary of Russia Day (June 12, 1990–2025).

In his congratulatory remarks, Hoang Minh Nhan, Chairman of the municipal Vietnam – Russia Friendship Association, highlighted the dynamic development of bilateral relations in recent years across all levels, from the central governments to localities. Both sides have been actively implementing agreements and cooperation projects in strategic areas such as energy, defence, and personnel training.

Based on the bilateral relationship, HCM City has fostered vibrant partnerships with many Russian localities and regions, Nhan noted. In the sphere of people-to-people diplomacy, the Vietnam – Russia Friendship Association and its Russian counterpart have signed an action cooperation programme running until 2030.

Berkutov Mikhail, Consul of the Russian Consulate General in HCM City, affirmed that the bilateral relationship remains warm, trustworthy and resilient, withstanding the tests of time and history’s ups and downs.

He noted that the ties are characterised by their closeness and similarities in historical experience, culture and national characters, as well as the tradition of patriotism, a strong sense of national responsibility, resilience in the face of foreign aggression, industriousness, creativity and deep humanitarianism.

The diplomat expressed his confidence that, through their joint efforts, the two countries will achieve all their set goals for the benefit of their people and for peace and security in the region./.

PM chairs national teleconference to promote key programmes
