As many as 40 enterprises and designers will gather at the second annual Ao Dai Festival, scheduled to be held in Dam Sen Cultural Park in Ho Chi Minh City on March 7-8.
Van Thi Bach Tuyet, Director of the municipal Department of Tourism made the statement on February 27, elaborating that a series of special programmes will be included in the festival, such as an Ao Dai competition and Ao Dai drawing contest.
An exhibition of the traditional dress through the eras and an Ao Dai show will also be part of the event.
According to the organising board, Miss Ao Dai Vietnam Lan Khue will attend the festival to meet and take photos with participants. Visitors wearing an Ao Dai to the event will be offered half-price or free tickets, and all women will receive a 50 percent discount on the International Women’s Day.
The event, organised to honour the Vietnamese traditional dress, is part of the City’s activities to promote and popularise the municipality’s tourism to local and international tourists.
It is among the programmes organised in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Liberation Day (April 30, 1975-2015).
The City drew over 50,000 tourists when it hosted the event for the first time in 2014.-VNA
