Hanoi (VNA) — Vietnam’s national team has dropped three places to 119th in the FIFA rankings for October 2024, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

During October’s FIFA Days, Vietnam played a single friendly match against India at Thien Truong Stadium, the northern province of Nam Dinh. The draw against a lower-ranked opponent led to a 0.2-point deduction, directly affecting Vietnam's ranking.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand advanced following their 2024 King’s Cup win, earning 8.69 points after victories over the Philippines and Syria, climbing to 96th in the world.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's 2026 World Cup qualifying loss to China resulted in a 5.3-point deduction, dragging the team to 130th.

Japan leads Asia’s rankings at 15th globally, up one spot from the previous month, followed by Iran (19th), the Republic of Korea (22nd), Australia (24th), and Qatar (40th).

Argentina retains the global top spot, followed by France, Spain, England, and Brazil. October saw 175 international matches, with Comoros and Sudan making the biggest gains, each climbing ten spots.

The next FIFA rankings update is scheduled for November 28./.
