HCM City, Singaporean group cooperate in smart city building

HCM City (VNA) – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong discussedcooperation in smart city building with Loh Chin Hua, Executive Chairman of theSingapore-based Keppel Land Limited on April 4.

At the meeting, themunicipal leader lauded the group’s investment in Vietnam, including many large-scaleprojects and constructions in HCM City. The city will work to improveinvestment climate and create optimal conditions for the operation of foreigninvestors and the Keppel Land Limited in particular, he said.

Sharing the implementationof HCM City’s ongoing projects, especially the Saigon Sport City, Phong askedthe Singaporean group to complete a detailed plan on the project in line withthe city’s requirements. Keppel Land was also urged to connect the project withthe Rach Chiec Sports Complex, contributing to the city’s plan to host the 31stSoutheast Asian Games (SEA Games) in 2021.

He also voiced hishope that the Keppel Land will participate in HCM City’s smart city buildingproject, particularly the building of an innovative urban area connecting District2, District 9 and Thu Duc district.

In reply, Loh Chin Huasaid the group plans to cooperate with Microsoft Corporation in turning theSaigon Sport City into a smart urban area of Asia, with the use of smarttechnology in security, trade, renewable energy development and application ofgreen solutions in urban development.

Noting that Keppel Landhas operated in Vietnam for 30 years in infrastructure and property, he vowedthat the group will spare no efforts to help the city perfect technical infrastructurefor SEA Games 31. – VNA

Coast Guard Region 2 promotes IUU-free fishing among Quang Ngai fishermen

The Command of Coast Guard Region 2 briefed the fishermen on the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Fisheries Law, and legal documents related to IUU prevention. Officers also provided guidance on identifying areas under Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction, traditional fishing grounds, warning zones, and prohibited fishing areas.
