At the April 13 reception for visiting Slovakian State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Peter Burian, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan highlighted the huge potential for cooperation between Slovakia and Vietnam as well as the city.

He reviewed the deep relationship between the two countries, which has experienced the ups and downs of history, he said.

Relations between Slovakia and Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular have thrived since Slovakia reopened its embassy in Hanoi and established its honorary consulate general in the city, he said.

Quan said the city has licensed a project funded by Slovakia to build a commercial area, noting that the project is expected to lay the foundations for cooperation between the two sides.

He expressed his hope that Peter Burian’s visit will elevate the relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Slovakia to a new level.

For his part, Peter Burian said Slovakia wishes to boost cooperation with Vietnam at both governmental and local levels.

HCM City is a dynamic locality that shares many similarities with Slovakia ’s city of Bratislava , he said, stressing the great potential cooperation between the two cities.

According to the diplomat, Ho Chi Minh City and Slovakia should enhance cooperation in the fields of urban management, personnel training and administrative reform.-VNA
