
HCM City (VNA) - Ho Chi Minh City plans to set up a database on civil statusto store and manage basic information related to population management of allcitizens by 2020, with total cost estimated at 260 billion VND (11.15 millionUSD).
This will be part of the city’s common-use shared database system forsmart-city development, Tran Vinh Tuyen, vice chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee and head of the smart city management board, said at arecent meeting.
The scale and scope of civil status digitisation includes all data related toregistration of a birth, death, marriage, marital status, and recognition ofparents or children.
Data records before 2015 will be scanned and entered on the database, whiledata records after 2015 only need to be scanned.
“Leaders of all districts’ people's committees and relevant agencies inlocalities must be responsible to the city's People's Committee if notcompleted on schedule,” Tuyen said.
The implementation process, which must be public and transparent, is expectedto be completed before the second quarter of 2020. –VNA
