A high-ranking delegation from Ho Chi Minh City paid a working visit toGermany from July 11-13 in a bid to attract more investment fromGermany and the EU to the country’s economic hub.
During a meeting with Berlin authorities, the delegation, led by ViceSecretary of the municipal Party’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, briefedthe host on HCM City’s socio-economic achievements, as well as itspotential and preferential treatment to investors from in and outside ofthe country.
The party official spoke highly of theeffective cooperation with Germany in building an underground railwayline, Vietnam-Germany University and German House, as well as theeffective implementation of other projects in the city.
She underscored the role of HCM City as Vietnam’s economic spearhead,and a promising market for investor, calling for more investment fromBerlin and Germany.
The delegation also took part in the opening ceremony of the Handmade in Vietnam-Berlin 2013 fair.
During a meeting with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany,Vice Secretary Ha said Germany is a huge consumer market, and animportant gateway for Vietnamese goods to enter the EU.
She urged the embassy to continue developing the two countries’strategic partnership, and attach more importance to HCM City, so as toattract more investment to the locality and to Vietnam.
During the delegation’s stay in Germany, it attended a pressconference on the Vietnam Festival that is to be held in Brandenburgstate’s Potsdam city in August, and laid wreaths at the statues of KarlMarx and Friedrich Engels in Alexander Square.-VNA
