HCM City, Vientiane strengthen cooperation between war veterans associations

HCM City (VNA) – Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc on June 11 held a reception for a visiting delegation from the war veterans association of Vientiane, headed by President Phalom Linthong.

Loc requested the municipal war veterans association to work with related agencies and units to foster collaboration with the Vientiane counterpart toward practical outcomes, contributing to solidarity and friendship between the two nations.

Commending joint activities of the two associations so far, the leader suggested the sides step up coordination and exchanges of views and experiences related to their operations, particularly in helping veterans get out of poverty and earn sustainable livelihoods.

Expressing his gratitude for the HCM City authorities' facilitation of the associations mutual cooperation and support, Phalom Linthong said they share similarities in their missions of protecting their parties and states as well as of assisting their members.

The Lao side wants to learn from the experience of and get support from its HCM City counterpart regarding the building of a sustainable organisation and its funds, development of veteran-owned enterprises, and poverty reduction assistance for members./.
