Ho Chi Minh City walked away from the 2013 National Petanque Championships, taking home a total of two gold, two silver and three bronze medals following eight days of competition.
According to Nhan dan (People) Online, the annual event, which concluded in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on April 24, drew the participation of nearly 170 athletes from 14 teams across the country competing for medals in nine disciplines for both men and women.
Second prize went to Dong Thap with two golds, two silvers and one bronze, while host Soc Trang finished third after racking up two gold and three bronze medals.
The eight-day tournament aimed to promote the development of the sport among localities nationwide, while offering a good opportunity for outstanding athletes to vie for slots in the national petanque team.-VNA
