In the solemn setting of the National Historical Site of the Ngoc Hoi Victory, 188 pupils from Ngo Si Kien Primary School were formally admitted to the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation.
More than a ceremony, it was a meaningful moment marking an important step in their personal growth. Holding the induction ceremony at a revolutionary historical site not only created a lasting memory for the pupils but also helped them better understand the significance of becoming Young Pioneers. It encouraged them to work harder and become more responsible towards themselves, their families and their homeland.
Student:
Today, I feel very honoured that my school held our Young Pioneer induction ceremony at the Three Bronze Arrows monument, part of a national historical site.
Many local schools have chosen the site of the Ngoc Hoi Victory in the spring of 1789 as a venue for extracurricular educational activities.
No longer confined to the classroom, history lessons for teachers and students from Ngoc Hoi Secondary School have become more vivid and engaging. Here, students can see historical artefacts with their own eyes, experience the atmosphere firsthand and feel a tangible connection with the past.
History is therefore no longer a collection of dry words in a textbook. It becomes an emotional story that helps students gain a deeper understanding of the value of peace and the sacrifices made by previous generations.
Learning progresses from knowing to understanding, from understanding to pride, and ultimately from pride to action.
Student:
The atmosphere at the site is very solemn and heroic, and it bears strong traces of history. I felt deeply moved and even prouder when revisiting the heroic chapters of our nation’s past. This place allows us to look back at the country’s history and better understand the value of peace.
Teacher:
History should not only be heard. It should also be seen, felt and experienced. The Tay Son movement included some of the most glorious campaigns and victories in Vietnamese history. We are deeply honoured and proud that Ngoc Hoi commune was the site of such an important battle.
Ngoc Hoi commune currently manages 34 historical and cultural sites, 26 of which have been officially recognised, including 17 national-level sites.
The most prominent is the National Historical Site of the Ngoc Hoi Victory, which commemorates the resounding triumph of the Tay Son army under the leadership of Emperor Quang Trung.
With 76 billion VND invested in restoration, the site has not only been given a more impressive appearance but has also been revitalised as a vibrant cultural space.
The site is valued not only for its architecture but has also become an important destination for educating younger generations about national history and tradition.
Every quarter, it welcomes thousands of visitors, students, teachers, officials and youth union members who come to pay tribute, report their achievements and explore the site./.
