Hosts Vietnam favourites to win women’s Asian Cup

The Vietnamese team is ranked the number one seed at the finals of the Women’s Asian Cup 2014 as it is the host of the tournament, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

VFFsaid the team representing Australia is the number two seed, followed byJapan, China, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Myanmar and Jordan.

The final round will take place in Ho Chi Minh City and the neighbouring province of Binh Duong from May 14-25.

Jordan, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar were group winners in the qualifying round

The eight teams, divided into two groups, will play in a round-robinformat. Group A consists of Vietnam, Australia, Japan and Jordan whileRoK, China, Thailand and Myanmar will vie with one another in Group B.

The two teams with the highest scores in eachgroup will enter the semi-finals and earn a place at the 2015 Women’sWorld Cup final round.

Meanwhile, the third placed teams will take a play-off match for the last spot at the World Cup.-VNA

Golf tournament marks 50 years of Vietnam–Germany ties
