Hundreds of houses built for poor households in Son La’s border district

Son La (VNA) – Hundreds of houses werebuilt in the border district of Song Ma, northern Son La province, last year,under a project on mobilising resources to address housing problems for poor households.

The 250 houses were constructed at a total cost of17.6 billion VND (775,331 USD), of which 2.74 billion VND came from the VietnamFatherland Front (VFF)’s chapters in districts and agencies, 2.5 billion VND was mobilised by communes and towns, 11.2 billion VND was from the beneficiary families, and over 1billion VND was contributed in the form of labour by the local community.

The 2021-2025 project has benefited people with disabilitiesand serious diseases, single parents, the elderly, and people who have lostwork ability or have no children.

The rate of poor households in Song Ma stands at 27percent and that of near-poor households is 14 percent.

Statistics show nearly 750 houses in the localityneed to be rebuilt in the 2021-2025 period.

The district is striving to complete the project by 2023./.
