Pho Hien used to be a bustling commercialport on the Red River, only second to the ancient capital of Thang Long (now Hanoi) in the 16th -17thcentury. It was well-known among foreigner traders, especially thosefrom China, Japan and the Netherland.
AlthoughPho Hien is no longer crowded and busy as in the old days, an oldarchitectural complex of the town still remains, with nearly 60historical and cultural relics. The festival will aim to recreate theatmosphere of the old day through various activities held in the relicsites, such as Xich Dang Temple of Literature, Chuong and Pho pagodas,Mau, Tran, Thien Hau temples and Ban Nguyet pond.
The festival will also feature traditional rituals, folk games and local specialties.-VNA
