Hung Yen culture, sports, tourism week to take place in November

The northern province of Hung Yen will organise a week-long event to promote its culture, sports, and tourism in Hung Yen city from November 19-24, according to the provincial People’s Committee.

Hung Yen (VNA) – The northern province of Hung Yen will organise a week-long event to promote its culture, sports, and tourism in Hung Yen city from November 19-24, according to the provincial People’s Committee.

Various activities will be held during the week including an arts festival, a folk dance and sports dance festival, a thematic exhibition on Hung Yen antiquities, and an exhibition of books and publications on the province’s cultural heritage.

Visitors can also watch demonstrations of the practice of the belief in the Mother Goddesses in the Three Realms and performance of lion dances during the week, along with a cycle race of local clubs.

The event aims to honour and promote the province’s cultural values, boost its tourism development and sports movements in the locality.

Located in the centre of the Red River Delta, Hung Yen boasts various tangible and intangible cultural heritage items, which holds great potential for tourism development.

The locality currently is home to over 1,800 historical sites, including three special national sites and 175 national sites, as well as seven artefacts and groups of artefacts recognised as national treasures.

Notable sites are special national relic sites Pho Hien in Hung Yen city, Thai Lac Temple in Van Lam district, and An Xa Temple in Tien Lu district.

The province also has a rich trove of intangible heritage with over 500 traditional festivals such as Pho Hien Folk Culture Festival in Hung Yen city, Chu Dong Tu – Tien Dung Festival in Khai Chau district, Dau An Temple Festival in Tien Lu district, and hundreds of traditional craft villages.

The locality is also famous for many specialties such as longan, Dong Tao chicken, and eel vermicelli./.
