Local residents now have the opportunity to read and buy widely known novels by Hungarian writers during the four-day event celebrating Hungarian literature that opened at the Hanoi Library on Jan. 6.

More than 50 titles, including over 20 books which have been translated into Vietnamese, have been put on display to help Hanoians better understand the Hungarian land and people.

Co-organised by the Thanh Nien Publishing House and the Embassy of Hungary in Vietnam, the event commemorates 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Present at the opening ceremony were Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Vizi Laszlo, Director of the Hungarian books fund Karolyi Dora and poet Falusi Maron.

During the event, visitors can also meet with translators Le Xuan Giang and Nguyen Hong Nhung, and watch special movies such as “Nhung ngoi sao Eghe” (Eghe Stars) and “Thuoc phien” (Opium)./.
