Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien saidthe project, with an estimated budget of 190 million USD, will helpupgrade equipment at provincial-level hospitals, improve hospitalmanagement capacity and encourage people to buy health insurance.
District-level hospitals specialising in obstetrics, paediatrics,cancers, cardiology-vascular diseases and trauma will also benefit fromthe project.
Head of the Health Ministry’sScience-Finance Department, Dr. Pham Le Tuan said the plan also aims tohelp improve health condition of priority groups, including mothers,children, poor and ethnic minority people, through strengthening thequantity and quality of essential health care services.
The project will be implemented in 13 provinces between 2012 and 2018.
Vietnamis currently implementing five foreign-funded health support projectsin the Central Highlands, the Mekong Delta, seven extremelydisadvantaged northern mountainous provinces, northern central andsouthern central regions.-VNA
