India asks Phu Yen to increase cooperation

Indian Consul General Abhay Thakur has asked the central coastal province of Phu Yen to increase cooperation with India in economics, culture and human resources training. 
Indian Consul General Abhay Thakur has asked the central coastalprovince of Phu Yen to increase cooperation with India ineconomics, culture and human resources training.

The Consul General made the request while paying a working visit to PhuYen province on Dec. 20, during which he pointed out that India haspoured 0.5 billion USD into Vietnam and two-way trade turnover had nowreached 3 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 30 percent.

 Up to 2015, India will see Vietnam as a perfect market to beefup investment in the country in general and in Phu Yen in particular, hesaid.

Abhay Thakur suggested Phu Yen provinceparticipate in a trade conference and an international fair to takeplace in the Indian capital of New Delhi in 2011. He also asked the province to send representatives from businesses toattend a training course on science and technology being held inVietnam

In terms of culture, the Indian Consul General proposed an Indian film festival in Phu Yen province.

Phan Dinh Cu, Chairman of the Phu Yen People’s Committee, pledged thatthe province will create favourable conditions for foreign businessesand investors, including those from India . Hesaid the province will submit a document to the Ministry of Culture,Sports and Tourism to organise an Indian film festival programme in2011.

Currently, KCP Industry Co. Ltd is the onlyIndian-invested project in Phu Yen. It is seen as the most effectiveforeign project in the province. On the same day,the Phu Yen People’s Committee held a conference to call for investmentin 24 projects worth about 19 trillion VND which mostly focus oninfrastructure, agriculture, food processing, garment manufacture,tourism and education.

 At the event, the Phu Yen People’s Committee has revealed preferential policies regarding tax andland and water space leases in a 23,720 ha area of Nam Phu Yen EconomicZone./.
