Hanoi (VNA) – A mobile training team from the Indian Army is visiting Vietnam to help train Vietnamese sappers for UN peacekeeping missions.

The team includes four officers very experienced in joining and commanding Indian engineer units on UN peacekeeping missions.

The Indian experts will also share experience in deployment activities of UN peacekeeping missions.

As part of the plan approved by the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence, the training programme focuses on an overview of UN peacekeeping activities, basic issues of UN peacekeeping operations in missions, task of sappers in UN peacekeeping missions, and situations in UN peacekeeping missions.

Vietnam and India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in UN peacekeeping operations last year.
