India has been following with concern recent developments in theEast Sea, according to the Spokesperson of India’s Ministry ofExternal Affairs.
In response to a media query onthe East Sea on May 9, the Official Spokesperson said “We believethat maintenance of peace, stability, growth and prosperity in theregion is of vital interest to the international community.”
“We would like to see resolution of the issue through peaceful meansin accordance with universally recognised principles of internationallaw,” he said.
In this context, India also maintainsthat freedom of navigation in the East Sea should not be impeded, andcalls for cooperation in ensuring security of sea-lanes andstrengthening of maritime security, he said in his statement./.
