Jakarta (VNA)Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing underlined that the establishment of the Global Water Fund is paramount to providing long-term funding for clean water and sanitation initiatives.

Speaking at the Designing Global Water Fund Establishment workshop in Jakarta on February 5, the ministry's Director General of Public Works Infrastructure and Housing Finance Herry Trisaputra Zuna stated that the establishment of the Global Water Fund to offer lasting financial support for clean water and sanitation initiatives and water-related disaster financing in developing countries has become critical.

He noted that establishment is expected to tackle the funding gap and support the accomplishment of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 6 on clean water and sanitation.

The Indonesian government has established the Indonesia Water Fund (IWF) to advance investments and the provision of clean water across Indonesia.

Zuna noted that the IWF is expected to operate up to 1 billion USD of funding for clean water projects./.
