Jakarta (VNA) - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) of Indonesia has promoted cooperation with Malaysia to develop science and technology talent in the two countries towards building a resilient, innovative, dynamic, and people-centric ASEAN by 2045, aligning with the bloc's vision.
Head of BRIN's Centre for Government Research Mardyanto Wahyu Tryatmoko stated on July 1 that the two countries have the same role and goals in pushing for science and technology development within a collaborative framework and exchange information so as to manifest self-sufficiency at both national and regional levels.
Achieving this requires bridging the knowledge gap - a risk heightened by global crises, he affirmed, adding that the two sides must leverage technological advancements; tap into the potential of creative economy; pursue economic integration and build an ever-growing ecosystem, to remain competitive in the current era.
Tryatmoko stressed that science and technology enable strategic cooperation, especially in developing skilled and competent human resources.
He draws parallels between the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045. The national vision marks a strategic milestone for Indonesia's development as the country approaches its 100th year of independence in 2045.
The partnership between the two neighbouring countries is expected to improve the quality of education, boost research and development capacity, foster industry-academia collaboration, and increase awareness of the use of digital technology, he said./.
