Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia has deployed a total of 1,300 security personnel to ensure safety is maintained for the match between Vietnam and Jordan in the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship which began at 4pm on October 19.

Ammunition trucks, ambulances, and fire engines have also been deployed to the area around Patriot Stadium in Bekasi, Indonesia where the match is taking place.

Security forces have tightened security at the stadium’s entrance and terraces to ensure no one can bring in dangerous items and prevent acts of terrorism.

Vietnam’s U19 team confirmed their place at the AFC final after topping Group G of the event’s qualifying round last year, while Jordan ranked first in Group E.

The team meets Jordan in the opening game of Group C. Besides Jordan, Vietnam will face 12-time champions the Republic of Korea and Australia, who have both been to the FIFA U20 World Cup 15 times and reached the AFC U19 Championship final in 2010.

To prepare for the AFC event, the Vietnam team has been busy training in China and Qatar.

Vietnam will next face Australia on October 22 and the RoK on October 25.

The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Poland next year. —VNA
