Int’l art photo exhibition opens in Hanoi

Thecontest was jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports andTourism (MCST), the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and theFederation of International Art Photography (FIAP) to celebrate the 30th FIAP Congress in Vietnam and the 1,000 th anniversary of ThangLong-Hanoi.

Speaking at the ceremony, MCST DeputyMinister Le Tien Tho stressed that this is the first time Vietnamhas hosted such a large art photo exhibition with the participation ofmany photographic associations throughout the world.

The exhibition, which lasts until August 8, offers a good chance forVietnamese photographers to share experiences and promote the image ofthe Vietnamese land and people to international friends, he added.

The photo contest included two competitions: one for black and whitephotos and the other for those taken by young photographers. The contestreceived 658 entries, including 420 black and white photos, and 238photos of young photographers, from 42 countries and territoriesworldwide.

Vietnamese photographer Pham Thi Thubagged a gold medal for her excellent collection of black and whitephotos entitled “Di chung da cam” (the after-effects of the AgentOrange).

The host country also won a world cup for young photographers under 16 and a gold medal for young artists aged between 16-21./.

At the Thai Festival, from March 28 night to March 30 morning in Hanoi, visitors explored typical Thai dishes, along with health care and beauty care products and traditional handicrafts. They also enjoyed traditional dances from many regions of Thailand, tried making Khanom Krok coconut cakes and painting patterns on silk, among other activities.
