An international seminar will be held in Hanoi on May 5 to gain a betterinsight into the Dien Bien Phu victory of May 7, 1954, which endedthe French colonial rule in Vietnam.
Nguyen Van Nhat, Director ofthe Institute of History under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences,said on April 29 that the function will be attended by some 200researchers from Vietnam, Russia, the US, France, China and Laos.
Headded that the seminar will highlight the strong and creativeleadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minhin the Dien Bien Phu battle, which demonstrated the determination andspirit of the Vietnamese armed forces and people.
By underliningthe significance of the victory, the event also aims to boost nationalpride in each Vietnamese citizen, he noted.
The Dien Bien Phucampaign played a decisive role in ending Vietnam’s resistance waragainst the French and bringing new momentum to Vietnam’s revolution andthe struggle for peace, national independence and socialism.-VNA
