The International Women’s Volleyball Championships - LienVietPostBank Cup 2013 kicked off in northern Bac Ninh province on May 19.
This is the third consecutive year such a tournament has been jointly held by the LienVietPost Bank, Vietnam Volleyball Federation and the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Culture.
The week-long event has drawn the participation of more than 100 female players from four domestic teams, including LienVietPostBank Information, VTV Binh Dien Long An, Vietinbank and Vietsovpetro, and four others representing from Sri Lanka, Thailand, China’s Shandong and Sichuan provinces.
The teams are divided into two groups for a round format to select the best four for the semi-finals and then two for the finals.
Total cash prizes of this year’s tournament will reach up to 40,000 USD, the highest among women’s volleyball tournaments in Vietnam currently.
The champion will receive 15,000 USD while those winning the second, third, fourth and style prizes will get 10,000 USD, 6,000 USD, 3,000 USD and 2,000 USD respectively.-VNA
