The Italian Tuscany region’s Red Cross is to fund the training of three paediatricians from Vietnam National Paediatricts’ Hospital as part of a cooperation programme signed in Rome recently.

The deal, the outcome of a visit to the Tuscany region from January 14-22 by a delegation from the Vietnamese hospital led by its director Nguyen Thanh Liem, will bring Vietnamese paediatricians to Tuscany Children’s Hospital, one of Italian leaders in this field, for a refresher course in three months.

In regard to the programme of cooperation, on January 19, Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Khanh Thoai met with the Tuscany Red Cross President, Francesco Caponi, to discuss measures for speeding up projects funded by the Red Cross of Tuscany and Italy as a whole. They include projects on mother and child care in the southern provinces of Tien Giang and Binh Phuoc.

During its stay, the Vietnamese delegation also visited the functional rehabilitation centre run by Tuscany Red Cross and several medical stations in the region.

The Tuscany Red Cross chief told Vietnam News Agency that his agency and the Italian Red Cross are interested in broadening relations with Vietnamese counterparts in all fields in order to strengthen relations between the two countries./.
