The Japanese Government will grant non-refundable aid packages worth over 170,000 USD in total to build primary schools in the central provinces of Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Ngai.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Hanoi on Aug. 7.

Under the agreement, Thua Thien-Hue province will receive nearly 78,000 USD to build a two-storey school with four classrooms in Phu Mau precinct, Hue city.

The school is one of the infrastructure facilities the province plans to build in Phu Mau in order to resettle 800 families living on boats, or 70 percent of the total such families in Hue city.

Another school with 8 classrooms will be built in Binh Minh commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province, with a Japanese grant of over 92,000 USD.

Binh Minh commune, with a population of nearly 10,000 mostly living on agricultural production, is hit every year by a number of storms and flooded for three months on average.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Japanese Ambassador Mitsuo Sakaba expressed his hope that the projects would help improve schooling conditions for the localities and contribute to friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries./.
