Commander of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Tomohisa Takei is on a four-day visit to the Philippines.

During his stay from February 23, Tomohisa Takei is scheduled to meet some Filipino defence and military officials to discuss cooperation activities to promote training, naval exchanges, and technical support as well as future disaster response.

The Japanese commander is planned to tour a Philippine military camp on the central island of Palawan.

Japan is one of two strategic partners of the Philippines. The other is the US.-VNA
