An international workshop on the role of constitution for stability and development of a nation and experience from Japan ’s constitution took place in Hanoi on September 20.
It was jointly organised by the Law Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam, the Editorial Board on drafting constitution amendment and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
In his opening speech, Chairman of the law Committee Phan Trung Ly underlined the significance of the event, saying that it provides participants with a chance to study constitution and its role for development of any country.
He said, the constitution amendment is of great importance for each country and requires to be carried out carefully, strictly and scientifically on the basis of reality and selective reference from domestic and foreign legislative experience.
At the workshop, representatives from Japan also provided information and shared experiences in law making and constitutional building in their country, focusing on subjects such as the significance of constitution, the human rights, the state apparatus organisation, and the relation between the legislative, executive and judiciary bodies and the local authorities.
Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yasuaki Tanizaki affirmed his country will continue to cooperate and share experience with Vietnam in the field.
Experiences shared at the event are expected to contribute to the constitution amendment of Vietnam in the future.-VNA
