Japanese Prime Minister begins visit to Indonesia

Jakarta (VNA) –
Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide arrived in Indonesia,the second leg of his first trip abroad as Prime Minister, on October 20.

Suga isscheduled to hold talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on bilateraleconomic cooperation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic continuing tospread.

They may alsodiscuss resuming travel between the two countries and cooperation in developinginfrastructure, including seaports and railways.

The same day,Indonesian Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto and Japanese Ambassador to IndonesiaIshii Masafumi signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of health care,including in pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, human resources development,medical services, medical IT, elderly care, disease prevention andenvironmental health.

BeforeIndonesia, PM Suga had visited Vietnam. His four-day trip to the two SoutheastAsian countries takes place as the Japanese PM is working to promote Japan’sFree and Open Indo-Pacific vision./.
