Japan’s Aichi prefecture wants to participate in the project to build the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh highway in the form of Public-Private Partnership (PPP), said the prefecture’s governor Hideaki Ohmura.

HCM City (VNA) – Japan’s Aichi prefecture wants toparticipate in the project to build the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh highway inthe form of Public-Private Partnership (PPP), said the prefecture’s governorHideaki Ohmura.

The governor made the request at a meeting with Chairman of HCM CityPeople’s committee Nguyen Thanh Phong on September 13.

He added that the prefecture hopes to turn the project into a new symbolof the friendship between Japan and Vietnam.

Aichi authorities also want to furtherpromote economic, investment and tourism cooperation and cultural exchange withHCM City, Governor Ohmura said, calling for theVietnamese southern hub’s support in the organization of a Vietnam Festival inNagoya city next year.

For his part, Phong appreciated the signing of a letter of intention betweenthe city and the Japanese side on the organization of the Vietnam Festival inNagoya and pledged support for the activity.

The official said HCM City is ready to work with Aichi to promotebilateral ties through exchanging delegations, sharing development experienceand encouraging people-to-people exchange, thus bringing practical benefits toboth sides and contributing to the relations between Vietnam and Japan.

He suggested that the two sides consider signing cooperation deals in manufacturing-processingindustry and hi-tech agriculture, which are the strength of Aichi.

As of August 2019, 43 firms from Aichi had invested 37 million USD in HoChi Minh City. Meanwhile, around 32,000 Vietnamese are living and working inAichi./.
