Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Hiroshi Watanabe has said Japan will continue its official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam.
Japan takes high interest in major projects in Vietnam, and plans to sign credit contracts to build Vinh Tan 4 thermal power plant and others in Nghi Son, Vung Ang and Van Phong, Watanabe told President Truong Tan Sang in Hanoi on July 15.
He also spoke highly of the investment climate in Vietnam, especially political trust.
President Sang vowed to help Japanese investors by all possible means, and asked Watanabe to do his part for the success of joint credit deals with Vietnam.
Firms and agencies from both countries have reached deals in agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, investment and support industry, the President informed his guest, adding that Vietnam has sent officials to Ibaraki prefecture to learn from its experience in processing farm produce.
Receiving the governor the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh expressed hope for deeper economic ties with Japan via the effective use and management of its ODA.
The mobilisation of capital in and outside the country is crucial to Vietnam’s economic growth, he told the guest.
Watanabe gave compliments on Vietnam’s macroeconomic stability which, he said, is an attraction to foreign investors.
Japanese businenesspeople see Vietnam as a promising destination, he assured Ninh.
