The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has provided 4.66million USD to a project to improve the system to control safety ofagricultural and seafood products.
According to the Ministry ofAgriculture and Rural Development, the 5.1 million USD project is beingcarried out by the Department of Management of Agro-Forestry and AquaticQuality from December 2011-December of 2014.
Under theproject, Vietnamese staff specialising in agricultural and seafoodproducts safety will attend training courses in Japan and in Vietnam toimprove their inspection capacity and test analysis skills.
Japanese experts will also help upgrade laboratory processes and build a national food safety inspection programme.-VNA
